Cards, Cards, Cards

Cards, Cards, Cards

I've been on a kick recently, a kick of making cards. Now I have to be honest. Most of the cards I've been making are for no particular reason other than, "I saw an idea on Pintrest and now I must make my own." This happens to me quite regularly. I have an entire board of nothing but cards I like and want to try and making my own variation of.

Below I've added pictures of cards I've created and the photos that inspired them.

Fourth of July Birthday Card

I actually made this card with a purpose. The card on the left is from a craft magazine that I had been browsing through. Of course, at the time, I didn't think to jot down the name. The left I made for my dad's birthday which happens to fall on July 9th, which I circled on my version. The great thing about this card, I didn't need to buy many supplies. I did order the calendar stamp off Amazon for a very low price but as it was coming from overseas, I didn't expect it to arrive on time. I was fully ready to bust out my own calendar and have my handy, dandy Cricut Explore Air print it for me, but I'm happy with the way this one turned out. I did use the Cricut for my stars and my 'July'. Dad was stoked and I had a fun time putting it together.

Wedding Card

This card, also was made for a recent wedding we attended. Once again, the example is on the left and my version is on the right. I used my Cricut very heavily for this card. The hearts and background rectangles were both cut out with it and I used the writing feature for my font. I recently read a tutorial, which you can find here on how to move the letters around in the Design Space to remove those awkward gaps. LIFESAVER. I was slightly disappointed with my choice in embossing folder, but given my small selection, it was the best option. I embossed with my Cuttlebug and also used it to better adhere my background papers to the card. The tie was made with leftover ribbon and my glue gun. The buttons are sequins I found in a jar and I glued small, clear beads to the "dress" heart for added texture.

Heartfelt Wishes

I'd had this card pinned for awhile now. I think it was the color scheme that really spoke to me. I was determined to only use supplies on hand as my husband keeps trying to tell me I already have enough paper.... I couldn't find a red I was in love with but managed to find a large enough scrap to make this one work. I once again used my Cricut for the the heart and circle cut outs. The rounded edges are achieved with a corner rounded punch I picked up at my local Joanns. I've been working recently on my hand lettering and I'll admit, it's no easy task but I was happy with my end result here.

Birthday Wishes

There were many things I liked about this Pintrest card. The simplicity of it, the color pallet, the fact that the wording could easily be changed out. On my version, I happened to have some leftover scraps from a baby book redo I was working on and they were the perfect size for this project. The paper is from the fancy That! My Mind's Eye 6x6 stack from Hobby Lobby. The Happy Birthday stamp and flower cutout was made using the Oh So Succulent Collection by Stampin' Up. I stamped the flower then ran the die cut through my Cuttlebug. I pushed up the petals to give a little more dimension and popped it up with foam mounting dot.

Floral Birthday Wishes

The colors on this Pintrest card really caught my eye. I loved the deep pink/purple. I however, learned I don't have those colors but find that I have a rather large collection of pastel pinks. This card was rather simple to assemble. All it took was a paper cutter, a stamp, glue and some scissors. The paper is a mix from a few different stacks. The button from my trusty button jar. The flags were cut with a pair of scissors. I find it best for smaller things like this to just cut them myself. The 'Happy Birthday' is once again from the Oh So Succulent stamp collection. My husband ended up giving this to his grandma from her birthday right after I finished it.
